MAN WRESTLES AND PLAYS WITH 17FT PET CROCODILE

Chito the human, and Pocho the crocodile, playing in the water.

This has got to be the craziest man on the planet! Chito, seen above with his best “friend” and “pet” 17ft, 1000 pound crocodile, Pocho.

Yes, that’s right, he jumps in the water and plays with this gigantic Costa Rican monster…daily.

Finding Pocho years ago, wounded from a shot to the head, on the verge of death and with the bullet still lodged in his head, Chito nursed the young croc back to health and hasn’t been able to shake him since. In fact, Pocho the crocodile follows him around.

Chito and Pocho wrestling around,
as usual...
no big deal.

Daily Mail writes:

This daredevil fisherman loves nothing better than dicing with death as he grapples with a 17ft crocodile. But Chito – known as Tarzan Tico – is not moments away from becoming a meal, he’s just having a playful tussle with his best mate, Pocho.

The 53-year-old Costa Rican crocodile wrestler wades chest deep into the murky waters as 500 spectators look on in nervous anticipation.

As Chito, wearing a leopard skin sash and a headband, taps the surface of the water and calls out to his friend, the 990lb reptile dramatically emerges from below to applause from the crowd. The performer then rolls Pocho on to his back, pushing his head under the water before tenderly kissing him on the nose.

The extraordinary display is more than just a tourist trap, but a demonstration of a remarkable friendship.

Chito rescued Pocho from the Parismina river after he discovered him with a bullet lodged in his head. The crocodile was close to death but he nursed the reptile back to health over six months at his home.

UNKNOWN BLUE SPHERES RAIN FROM SKY

Some say the spheres could be marine life eggs, but no confirmation just yet.

One resident in Bournemouth, UK got quite an interesting surprise the other day in the middle of a rain storm that was right over his home.

Instead of the usual rain or hail, he had about a dozen mysterious marble-size blue spheres fall into his garden.

Unable to figure out just what they were, Steve Hornsby collected the jelly like balls and put them in his refrigerator for further investigation.

Hopefully, there’s no other house-mates to wake up early one morning, stumble to the kitchen for breakfast and make some toast with the “awesome blue jelly Steve got for us!”

BBC News writes:

A man in Dorset has been left mystified after tiny blue spheres fell from the sky into his garden.

Steve Hornsby from Bournemouth said the 3cm diameter balls came raining down late on Thursday afternoon during a hail storm. He found about a dozen of the balls in his garden. He said: “[They’re] difficult to pick up, I had to get a spoon and flick them into a jam jar.”

The Met Office said the jelly-like substance was “not meteorological”.Mr Hornsby, a former aircraft engineer, said: “The sky went a really dark yellow colour. “As I walked outside to go to the garage there was an instant hail storm for a few seconds and I thought, ‘what’s that in the grass’?”

Mr Hornsby said he was keeping the balls in his fridge while he tried to find out what they were. Walking around his garden he found many more blue spheres were scattered across the grass.

He said: “The have an exterior shell with a softer inner but have no smell, aren’t sticky and do not melt.”

Mr Hornsby said he was keeping the balls in his fridge while he tried to find out what they were.

LAMB HAS CONTROL OVER ALL SIX OF ITS LEGS

Unlike most animal mutations, this little one actually has a bit of control over it's extra limbs.

We here at the Museum of The Weird see all kinds of animal mutations often  in our journeys and, even have a large collection of some of the more rare ones that have occurred here at the museum itself. There’s the cyclops pig, a two-headed calf and even a lamb that has 2 seperate bodies, fused into one regular sized lamb, with legs coming out of it’s back due to where the bodies are conjoined! All here at the Museum of The Weird in downtown Austin, right on the famous 6th street, ready for you to come a-lookin’!

Video of said six-legged lamb here:

Yahoo News blog The Sideshow writes:

six-legged lamb was born recently in a small village in the eastern European nation Georgia. The lamb was also reportedly born with both male and female sexual organs.

Shephard Albert Abadzhanov tells the newspaper Trend that in his 25 years of shepharding that he’s never seen such a case.

“I have been asking the other shepherds, but none of them remember such a case. There were three-legged lambs, one-eyed, but not a six legged, bisexual one. The lamb eats well, but moves with difficulty.” Abadzhanov said.

GIGANTIC BAT COLONY FOUND IN MIAMI ROOF!

The bats just wouldn't stop coming out from underneath one family's roof in Miami.

One family in Miami got quite the surprise the other day when getting their roof remodeled. While roofers began removing the tiles from the roof, they discovered hundreds, almost thousands of bats nestled beneath them with fresh younglings ready to take flight. The more tiles the pulled off, the more the blood-thirsty little residents poured out.

The Huffington Post writes:

Think about how many houses in South Florida have roofs with barrel tiles. Now imagine that each one contains thousands of squealing bats.

In the video above, Miami roofers discover a particularly dense roosting area for bats. As noted by Buzzfeed, it conjures up visions of Temple of Doom.

Bats are quite common in Florida. Local pest removal companies cite the most common types are the Brazilian, or Mexican Free-Tail Bat, and the Evening Bat.

According to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission says, as bats’ natural habitats disappear, they’re more likely to settle in places like roof titles. And when this video was taken in July, bats nestle in crevices to give birth and nurture their young.

CARNIVOROUS PLANT EATS WORMS!

This unassuming little plant is feasting on a buffet of worms just below the surface.

Once again, a new discovery in this world of ours has changed science and they way we think about plants forever. Newly discovered plants of the Philcoxia genus are the first ever found to actually feed on animal life below the surface of the earth.

Discovery News writes:

The Brazilian savannah is home to a subterranean little shop of horrors for tiny worms.

Plants of the Philcoxia genus aren’t as physically impressive (or musically talented) as Audrey 2, the man-eating plant of stage and screen, but can be just as deadly to nematodes, or roundworms.

The three species recently studied, P. bahiensis, P. minensis and P. goiasensis, are the first plants found to feed on animals underground. The plants have sticky subterranean leaves which trap nematodes as they crawl through the nutrient-poor white sand of the Brazilian cerrado, a vast tropical grassland.

NEW MONKEY DISCOVERED W/ HUMAN-LIKE FACE

One of the only known photos of the Snub-Nosed Monkey alive in Myanmar.

New discoveries are always exciting and tell us a lot about our world, but this one in-particular is especially interesting due to the fact that it’s a monkey that looks an awful  lot like a human being!

Another of the only known photos of this newly discovered monkey alive.

Although this is a new discovery to the world, it’s definitely not anything new to the locals of this area, who seem to have been hunting it for food for quite some time.

A recent photo of a Snub-Nosed Monkey that was hunted by locals for food.

National Geographic writes:

A new monkey species inMyanmar is so snub-nosed that rainfall is said to makes it sneeze—but that’s apparently the least of problems.

The only scientifically observed specimen (pictured above) had been killed by local hunters the time researchers found it—and was eaten soon after. But local demand for monkey meat is only one reason the new species is already considered endangered.

Scientists first learned of “Snubby”—as they nicknamed the species—from hunters in the remote, mountainous Kachin state (map) in early 2010, according to the U.K.-based conservation group Flora & Fauna International (FFI), which announced the discovery Wednesday.

BIGFOOT SHOOTER SPEAKS!

A common depiction of a Bigfoot walking as humans do.

With all the weird news I see daily, THIS story is by far the most fascinating I’ve ever seen.

Cryptomundo.com has transcribed a portion of a radio broadcast featuring a conversation between a talk show host and one of the two hunters said to have killed and captured a bigfoot juvenile in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

His story is amazing and just plain incredible, if true.

Cryptomundo writes:

We saw this creature. It was walking on two legs, hairy. The best way I can describe it is it looked like a person in a suit. Probably 3 or 4 seconds had gone by, and it started to walk towards us, between 80 and 100 yards away…It had its arms in the air and was waving them, almost like, “Don’t shoot, don’t shoot!” Kind of a universal thing in any language. Anybody raises his hands – sign of surrender.

I didn’t know what it was. To me it was just a monster. I’m looking at this monster. By this time I have the bullet in the chamber, my finger on the trigger, and it’s coming towards us, slowly. It’s taking steps, waving.

A lot of people are saying I shot it in the back, but if you have a deer, and you shoot it behind the shoulder, then you’re going to penetrate both lungs. On a person it’s a hard area to describe, but it’s basically right under the shoulder where the lungs are located.

So maybe 5 seconds had passed, and my buddy says, “Don’t shoot, don’t shoot! It’s not a bear. Do not shoot.” And I’m still kind of locked in on this thing. To me it was a monster, that’s all it was.

Here is the entire audio from the broadcast, posted on YouTube.

EVOLUTION IN ACTION; FIRST HYRBRID SHARK EVER!

This hybrid has both Common and Australian black tip shark DNA.

This is pretty darn fascinating! Here’s life showing us how it adapts and evolves no matter what the conditions may be. In this case, nature has “created” a shark that usually lives in warmer waters but, through mating with genetic relatives, is now able to expand its’ range to be able to swim and hunt in cooler waters.

Discovery News writes:

Scientists said on Tuesday that they had discovered the world’s first hybrid sharks in Australian waters, a potential sign the predators were adapting to cope with climate change.

The mating of the local Australian black-tip shark with its global counterpart, the common black-tip, was an unprecedented discovery with implications for the entire shark world, said lead researcher Jess Morgan.

“It’s very surprising because no one’s ever seen shark hybrids before, this is not a common occurrence by any stretch of the imagination,” Morgan, from the University of Queensland, said.

“This is evolution in action.”

HERRING TODAY, GONE TOMORROW

A dog taking a stroll and investigating the large amount of fish that washed ashore.

What’s more mysterious then thousands of Herring washing up dead on a shore in Norway?

How about thousands of herring washing up dead on a shore in Norway then disappearing altogether before anyone attempted a cleanup?! Yeah, I know.

Authorities speculate they all simply just washed out to sea with the tide, but we here at the Museum of the Weird know a cover-up when we see one!

Leave some comments and tell us what you think could be going on here.

The Huffington Post writes:

OSLO, Norway — Tens of thousands of dead herring have carpeted a stretch of coast in northern Norway – and then disappeared again.

The fish appeared on New Year’s Eve, leading to speculation that predators might have driven a huge school ashore or the fish could have been washed onto the beach by a powerful storm that hit Norway on Christmas Day.

Jens Christian Holst of Norway’s Institute of Marine Research says a combination of several factors was the likely explanation.

Locals also started pondering how to clean up the estimated 20 tons of dead fish on the beach in Kvaenes, near Tromsoe, north of the Arctic Circle, before it decayed. But before they could start, the fish disappeared.

Holst said Tuesday the herrings have likely washed back into the North Sea.

“YETI” FINGER DEBUNKED

The "Yeti" finger that was brought back from a monastery hidden in the mountains of Nepal.

Well, we here at The Museum of the Weird were certainly excited about this suposed “Yeti” finger that was to be tested and were hoping for final proof of something that we all believe to be very real.

The hand, the finger tested was removed from, along with a scalp of unknown origin.

Unfortunately, science was not on our side this time and debunked what was looking to be a very promising path to proof of the Nepalese “Yeti” or, Abominable Snowman.

Cryptomundo writes:

The Pangboche Yeti finger was rediscovered while on display at London’s Royal College of Surgeons. The late Dr. William Charles Osman Hill, a consultant to the Tom Slick expeditions, bequeathed it to the Hunterian Museum, which is a division of the Royal College of Surgeons.

The alleged Yeti finger from the Pangboche hand was found by the UK’s Daily Mail reporter Matthew Hill, several months ago and has undergone DNA testing. This certainly has been a year of surprises coming forth from the Tom Slick expeditions of the late 1950s.

Today, on a BBC program, the results of a new DNA test were broadcast. The result of the DNA analysis were announced on a program entitled “Yeti Finger” on BBC Radio 4 on December 27, 2011, at 11 am local time.

For the detailed results and MUCH more info and even videos from the original expedition to Nepal in the 50s, head on over to cryptomundo.com
