IS THE OLDEST HOUSE IN AMERICA HAUNTED?

The Fairbanks Homestead: Oldest Haunted House in America?

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER
Last updated at 4:53 PM on 14th April 2011

It’s the oldest timber frame house in America, lived in for generations by the same family and lovingly kept just as it was in its early Colonial days.

But what the Fairbanks House lacks in modern facilities it seems to make for with … strange spirits.

The house in Dedham, Massachusetts, was built between 1637 and 1641 by English settlers Jonathan and Grace Fairbanks.

Today the house is a museum, but it could very well one of the most haunted houses in America.

The Fairbanks Homestead: Oldest Haunted House in America?
Is it or isn't it? There is a movement on to see if one of America's oldest houses, in Dedham, is haunted

Justin Schlesinger, one of the museum directors whose ancestors built the property, said: ‘There’s always been weird things happening in the house, from the doorbell going off a million times to flashlights never working.’

He added that there are sometimes footsteps heard on the stairs when no one is there. Also, a newly-installed alarm system went off every night for several weeks with the alarm company unable to offer an explanation.

If there are such things as ghosts, he said, ‘this would be the logical place for them to be.’

For decades now, throngs of visitors from all over the world, from school children to distinguished architects, have toured the house, entranced by its authenticity.

A gentler age: Portraits and china bring a dash of colour to the living room
Over the centuries, there must have been some deaths in the house, museum business manager Lee Ann Hodson said.

There’s even been a shocking murder. In 1801, one of the Fairbanks sons, Jason, was convicted in the killing of his girlfriend, Elizabeth Fales, in a nearby pasture. She had apparently spurned his marriage proposal.

He was hanged from the gallows on Dedham Common in one of the most sensational murder cases of the time.

On a whim last year, Mr Schlesinger, 25, asked a ghost-hunting group, The Atlantic Paranormal Society, or TAPS, to come in and see what they might find.

A house full of history: Tools and items from the early Colonial days litter the property

He spent a a night in the house with the TAPS investigators.

‘We heard footsteps in the beginning,’ he said. ‘Up where the children used to sleep.’

The TAPS group made audio recordings all night in an effort to detect anything out of the ordinary.

They told him after reviewing the tapes that they did record some sounds.

‘They thought it was kids, because they got some laughter on the recordings.’

Schlesinger admitted that he didn’t get much sleep that night while the group camped out on sleeping bags in the house’s tiny parlor, especially when his cell phone went off in the middle of the night and began playing organ music.

‘I don’t know if scared is the right word,’ he said.’Maybe startled or confused.’

The ghost hunters told him not to worry, that if there were spirits in the house, they were likely his own family and wouldn’t harm him, thebostonchannel.com reports.

NEW CHUPACABRA VIDEO FROM ARIZONA

Is this the mysterious Chupacabra?
Is this the mysterious Chupacabra? The creature was chased down by a man in Goodyear, Arizona.

The following video was shot by Darrin Jackson, who was driving through a neighborhood in Goodyear, Arizona when he came upon this strange creature.

“I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me. I seen it, and it looked real strange, then as I kinda drive by I say ‘That looks just like the chupacabra on the video I saw, the thing they found in Texas!’ ”

At that point Jackson turned his car around to get a better look. He managed to get a good minute or so of footage of the frightened creature in a Fry’s parking lot while he contemplated what to do next.

“I said, well if I call 911, they’re gonna think I’m crazy if I say I saw the chupacabra. So I just said I seen a crazy animal.”

While on the phone with animal control, the creature managed to slip through a gate and escaped into a sewer.

Here’s the video of Jackson recounting his sighting, watch it and let us know your thoughts. Mangy coyote, Mexican hairless dog, or blood-sucking cryptid?  You decide.

IS THIS A UFO FLOATING OVER FUKUSHIMA NUCLEAR PLANT?

Giant UFO Hovering Over Fukushima Nuclear Plant, April 12
Is this a giant UFO hovering over Fukushima Nuclear Plant?

There is some new controversial footage online that is taking the internet by storm. Does this video show what appears to be a giant UFO hovering over the severely troubled Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant in Japan? Or could there be some more mundane explanation? What do our readers think?

Here’s the text that accompanies the video by YouTube user “supergia007”:

UFO sightings and alien interest in both earthquakes and nuclear plants have been documented for years. This publication has reported extensively on the intense, if not unprecedented , UFO activity in Japan before, during and after both the earthquake and the tsunami. So it comes as no surprise that a number of UFO sightings as well as film evidence of alien activity around the damaged Fukushima Nuclear Plant have come to light.

The footage below is remarkable, even in relation to some of the other astonishing footage that has come out of the region recently. The clip comes from a news report by German media group NDR.

At 55 seconds into the clip a giant UFO can be seen hovering above the nuclear plant. Obviously this was a slip up on behalf of NDR and the Asian news outlet the group received the footage from.

Top secret government departments worldwide collude to censor out any clear and obvious proof of the alien activity that is occurring at all times on planet earth. Only news that fits in with the program the international UFO cover-up has initiated to slowly make people aware of an alien presence on Earth is allowed to reach the public via mainstream media outlets. This was either a slip-up or a leak and no doubt behind closed doors there will heated discussion over this footage that proves without doubt that aliens are here.

The second video is of a UFO fleet that was filmed above Japan around three weeks ago.

CHINA BANS TIME TRAVEL FROM TELEVISION

Hong Kong, China (CNN) – China has been cracking down on dissent of late, as the recent detainment of artist Ai Weiwei suggests.

But the latest guidance on television programming from the State Administration of Radio Film and Television in China borders on the surreal – or, rather, an attack against the surreal.

New guidelines issued on March 31 discourages plot lines that contain elements of “fantasy, time-travel, random compilations of mythical stories, bizarre plots, absurd techniques, even propagating feudal superstitions, fatalism and reincarnation, ambiguous moral lessons, and a lack of positive thinking.”

“The government says … TV dramas shouldn’t have characters that travel back in time and rewrite history. They say this goes against Chinese heritage,” reports CNN’s Eunice Yoon. “They also say that myth, superstitions and reincarnation are all questionable.”

The Chinese censors seem to be especially sensitive these days. But for the television and film industry, such strictures would seem to eliminate any Chinese version of “Star Trek,” “The X-Files,” “Quantum Leap” or “Dr. Who.”  And does that mean rebroadcast of huge Hollywood moneymakers like “Back to the Future” and the “Terminator” series are now forbidden?

FILMMAKER CLAIMS NAILS FROM JESUS’ CRUCIFIXION FOUND

Two of the nails used to crucify Jesus have been discovered in a 2,000-year-old tomb, according to a new film.

The film, ‘The Nails of the Cross’ by Simcha Jacobovici, follows three years of research during which he presents his assertions – some based on empirical data, others requiring much imagination and a leap of faith.

He hails the find as historic, but most experts and scholars dismissed his case as far-fetched, some calling it a publicity stunt.

Many ancient relics, including other nails supposedly traced back to the crucifixion, have been presented over the centuries as having a connection to Jesus. Many were deemed phony, while others were embraced as holy.

Mr Jacobovici, who sparked debate with a previous film that claimed to reveal the lost tomb of Jesus, says this find differs from others because of its historical and archaeological context.

“What we are bringing to the world is the best archaeological argument ever made that two of the nails from the crucifixion of Jesus have been found,” he said.

“Do I know 100 per cent yes, these are them? I don’t.”

The film begins by revisiting an ancient Jerusalem grave discovered in 1990 which was hailed by many at the time as the burial place of the Jewish high priest Caiaphas, who in the New Testament presides over the trial of Jesus.

The grave, along with a number of ossuaries, or bone boxes, was uncovered during construction work on a hillside a few miles south of the Old City. It has since been resealed.

Caiaphas is a major figure in the Gospels, having sent Jesus to the Romans and on to his death, and one of Jacobovici’s assertions is that the high priest was not such a bad guy.

Two iron nails were found in the tomb, one on the ground and one actually inside an ossuary, and, according to the film, mysteriously disappeared shortly after. Mr Jacobovici says he tracked them down to a laboratory in Tel Aviv of an anthropologist who is an expert on ancient bones.

Are these the actual nails used in Jesus Christ's Crucifixion?
Are these the actual nails used in Jesus Christ's Crucifixion?

Either way, Mr Jacobovici shows why those nails could have been used in a crucifixion, which was a common practice two thousand years ago. He then offers his theory about why they may have been used in the most famous crucifixion in history.

“If you look at the whole story, historical, textual, archaeological, they all seem to point at these two nails being involved in a crucifixion,” he said. “And since Caiaphas is only associated with Jesus’s crucifixion, you put two and two together and they seem to imply that these are the nails.”

COULD ALIENS BE LIVING ON PLANETS DEEP WITHIN BLACK HOLES?

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER
Last updated at 1:17 PM on 12th April 2011

  • At the centre of some black holes is ‘an area where space and time exists’

Colonies of aliens living on planets within black holes may not be as far-fetched as it sounds.

Some black holes have a complex internal structure that allows photons, particles and planets to orbit a central singularity, according to one scientist.

A singularity is the region in a black hole when space and time become infinite.

Home to aliens? Planets that orbit inside a charged and rotating black hole could exist, a scientist said. The outer ring in this image depicts a planet in orbit, while the inner rainbow ring shows orbiting photons

However, Professor Vyacheslav Dokuchaev claims that at the centre of certain black holes, and under the right conditions, is an area where the fabric of space and time exists once more.

If a charged and rotating black hole is large enough, he said, it can weaken the tidal forces that are beyond the event horizon – the point where nothing, not even light, can escape a black hole’s gravity.

Scientists have long known that photons can survive in stable periodic orbits inside such charged black holes.

However Professor Dokuchaev said that a black hole’s inner Cauchy horizon – the area where dimensions switch back again – can also accommodate particles and even planets.

These manage to exist without ever getting sucked all the way into the black hole and would derive light and heat from the orbiting protons and from the energy of the central singularity, he said.

An artist's impression of the tremendous gravitational pull of a giant black hole on a passing star(R) which is first stretched by tidal forces until it is torn apart
Professor Dokuchaev, from the Institute for Nuclear Research of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow, speculates that these conditions could prove self-sufficient for alien life.

He said: ‘This internal black hole domain, hidden by two horizons from the whole external universe, is indeed a suitable place.

‘Advanced civilisations may live safely inside the supermassive black holes in the galactic nuclei without being visible from the outside.’

Earlier this year scientists discovered that the black hole M87 is almost twice as big as had previously been thought.

It was observed in M87, by far the largest and most distant galaxy some 50million light years away.

Researchers said that it may have formed as a result of hundreds of smaller black holes merging into one at some point in the past.

As a point of comparison, the black hole at the centre of the Milky Way is 1,000 times smaller.

BREAKING NEWS: DISCLOSURE ON ALIENS & UFOS FROM THE FBI

In the past few days, the Federal Bureau of Investigation has added a new online resource to their fbi.gov website called The Vault.

FBI Opens The Vault

According to the site,

The Vault is our new electronic reading room, containing more than 2,000 documents that have been scanned from paper into digital copies so you can read them in the comfort of your home or office.

On the right hand sidebar, among categories for “Counter-Terrorism,” “Fugitives,” and “Organized Crime,” there is an oddly conspicuous one called “Unexplained Phenomenon.”

Among the scanned memos in the Unexplained Phenomenon category, the very first one we are treated to is about a mysterious figure known as Guy Hottel. It goes on to describe him:

Guy Hottel was a Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Washington Field Office. The information concerning Mr. Hottel is in regard to a March 22, 1950, memo he sent to the Director concerning flying saucers.

There is a link for a scanned PDF file of Guy Hottel’s actual memo to the Director, dated March 22, 1950. Here is what Mr. Hottel had to say:

TO: DIRECTOR, FBI                                                                                                 DATE: March 22, 1950

FROM: GUY HOTTEL, SAC, WASHINGTON

SUBJECT: FLYING SAUCERS
INFORMATION CONCERNING

The following information was furnished to SA [Special Agent](text is blacked out) by (blacked out).

An investigator for the Air Forces stated that three so-called flying saucers had been recovered in New Mexico. They were described as being circular in shape with raised centers, approximately 50 feet in diameter.  Each one was occupied by three bodies of human shape but only three feet tall, dressed in metallic cloth of a very fine texture.  Each body was bandaged in a manner similar to the blackout suits used by speed flyers and test pilots.

According to Mr. (blacked out) informant, the saucers were found in New Mexico due to the fact that the Government has a very high-powered radar set-up in that area and it is believed the radar interferes with the controling mechanism of the saucers.

No further evaluation was attempted by SA (blacked out) concerning the above.

Guy Hottel UFO Memo to FBI Director
Here is the scan of the original memo concerning "Flying Discs or Flying Saucers" from Special Agent Guy Hottel to the Director of the FBI.

This document presumably confirms the legendary UFO crash of 1947 in Roswell, NM while shedding some new light on the event.  Previously unknown information gleaned from the memo confirms that not one, but three alleged flying saucers were recovered.  It also states that each craft had three humanoid 3-ft-tall bodies, brining the total of recovered alien beings to nine.

But the document raises other questions, like why is the memo dated three years after the event took place?  Since there is no specific mention to Roswell, could this have been an entirely separate event?  And who was the mysterious special agent Guy Hottel?

Guy Hottel
"Capt. Hottel, guard, George Washington U., Class of 1924." In 1950, Guy, a special agent in charge of the FBI's Washington field office, sent FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover a memo regarding UFOs.

And is this finally the official disclosure the world has been waiting for all these years?

I, for one, will be keeping a close eye on what else emerges from The Vault

GAY CAVEMAN OUTED AFTER 5000 YEARS

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER
Last updated at 9:36 AM on 7th April 2011

Five thousand years after he died, the first known gay caveman has emerged into the daylight.

According to archaeologists, the way he was buried suggests that he was of a different sexual persuasion.

The skeleton of the late Stone Age man, unearthed during excavations in the Czech Republic, is said to date back to between 2900 and 2500 BC.

Y-M-C-Cave: The skeleton was found in a Prague suburb with its head pointing eastwards and surrounded by domestic jugs - rituals only previously seen in female graves. Men would normally be buried with weapons, hammers and flint knives

During that period, men were traditionally buried lying on their right side with the head pointing towards the west; women on their left side with the head facing east.

In this case, the man was on his left side with his head facing west. Another clue is that men tended to be interred with weapons, hammers and flint knives as well as several portions of food and drink to accompany them to the other side.

Women would be buried with necklaces made from teeth, pets, and copper earrings, as well as domestic jugs and an egg-shaped pot placed near the feet.

The ‘gay caveman’ was buried with household jugs, and no weapons.

Archaeologists do not think it was a mistake or coincidence given the importance attached to funerals during the period, known as the Corded Ware era because of the pottery it produced.

From history and ethnology, we know that people from this period took funeral rites very seriously so it is highly unlikely that this positioning was a mistake,’ said lead researcher Kamila Remisova Vesinova.

‘Far more likely is that he was a man with a different sexual orientation, homosexual or transvestite. What we see here does not add up to traditional Corded Ware cultural norms.’

2012: DID THE MAYAN APOCALYPSE ALREADY HAPPEN 260 YEARS AGO?

Carl de Borhegyi
Carl de Borhegyi says 2012 doomsayers have it wrong

I was forwarded this interesting feature story by Museum of the Weird reader Chris Apgar, who works at citypages.com where this story was reported today. Here’s an excerpt from the first part of it, I recommend reading the complete story, it’s fascinating.

******************************************************************************************************************************************************************

By Nick Pinto Wednesday, Apr 6 2011

CARVED INTO the hard stone of a hillside outside the Mexican city of Acapulco is a mysterious image that lay hidden for 4,000 years.

It shows a monkey with one foot lifted in dance. The monkey’s long tail curls over its head. The primate appears to be holding a five-pointed star. As in a scene out of Alice in Wonderland, the monkey is perched on the crown of a giant mushroom. Over one shoulder, a series of dots radiates like Morse code, and by the figure’s belly, more dots are arrayed around an assemblage of concentric rings. Off to the left is another constellation of three dots.

The Mexican archaeologists who uncovered this strange glyph say it was put there by the ancient Maya around 2000 BC. At that time, the grand cycle of existence laid out in the intricate Mayan calendar system was just 1,000 years old.

But the timing of the monkey’s rediscovery four millennia later is remarkable, because that long age is now drawing to a close. The year 2012 is widely thought to be the end of the Mayan calendar, which has been taken by some to signal the apocalypse.

Yet hidden in the simple lines of the mushroom monkey picture may be the key to a secret that upends everything we think we know about the Maya, their calendar, and the coming apocalypse.

Carl de Borhegyi, a Maya researcher in Minneapolis, has been studying the image closely, and says it has shocking implications.

“There’s all this excitement and panic right now about 2012 and the Mayan apocalypse,” de Borhegyi says. “But the message contained in this image turns all that upside down.

“Let me put it this way: What if the apocalypse already happened?”

THE WORLD is gripped by fear and fascination with what will take place on December 21, 2012. The significance of the date is traced back to the ancient Maya.

“There are roots in the actual Mayan calendars and texts, of course,” says Anthony Aveni, an anthropologist and astronomer at Colgate University who has studied the 2012 phenomenon. “But what we’ve seen is that as this phenomenon has taken root in popular culture, it’s served as a vehicle for a lot of New Age ideas and other pre-existing beliefs.”

The panic, which had until then mostly flourished on the internet and in specialty book shops, broke into the mainstream consciousness in 2009, when the blockbuster film 2012 brought visions of widespread devastation to a mass market.

“American religion has always been deeply rooted in apocalyptic endings, and we are coming off a decade of cataclysmic events, from 9/11 to the Japanese earthquake,” Aveni says. “I get emails from people telling me they’re going to commit suicide. They’re taking it seriously.”

That’s a mistake, says de Borhegyi, who believes the 2012 end date is based on a major miscalculation.

“The Mayans used a much different calendar from the European one,” de Borhegyi says. “There’s always been some debate about the correlation between the two.”

In the Mayan calandar, a tun is a unit of just less than 20 years. Twenty tuns are a k’atun, 20k’atuns are a b’ak’tun, and 13 b’ak’tuns make up a “great cycle.”

It is that great cycle—a 5,125-year period—that doomsayers and new-agers say is coming to a close on December 21, 2012.

But the cycle’s end depends on when it began, and not everyone agrees on where to start. By the time Europeans encountered the Mayans, they had stopped using the full “long count” calendar notation in favor of an abbreviation.

“It’s as though we started writing all our dates 2/25/11,” de Borhegyi explains. “That gives you some information, but if someone came along afterwards, they could get confused. Are we talking about 2011? 1811? 1511?”

The dominant theory for years has been the Goodman-Martinez-Thompson correlation, which pegs the start of the cycle at 3134 BC. That fits the known dates and some of the archaeological evidence, and also squares with carbon-dating evidence.

But so does another theory, called the Spinden correlation, which lines up 260 years earlier on the European calendar.

“That’s what makes this monkey so important,” de Borhegyi argues. “The dots over his shoulder represent a long-count date: 3.3.4.3.2. Under the Spinden correlation, that lines up with a year known as three-monkey.”

De Borhegyi points to the three dots on the left hand side of the carving. “Three,” he says, then points to the central figure. “Monkey.”

“If you use Goodman-Martinez-Thompson correlation, it doesn’t work,” he says. “All this talk about the end of the world-age, the apocalypse, Armageddon, planetary alignment—it’s wrong. It’s not happening in 2012. It happened [260] years ago.”

Read the rest: http://www.citypages.com/2011-04-06/news/revelation-2012/

And for the most detailed and accurate information, check out Carl de Borhegyi’s website mushroomstone.com.

******************************************************************************************************************************************************************

It makes sense if you think about the end of the last Mayan “great cycle” coinciding roughly with the birth of America in the late 1700’s. Perhaps the founding of the United States marked the beginning of the next great cycle that we are currently in?  Any thoughts?

BOTANIST SAYS MYSTERY PLANT FOUND NEAR ROSWELL COULD BE EXTRATERRESTRIAL

Alien Plant

ROSWELL, N.M. (KRQE) – Little green men are no strangers to Roswell, but now one New Mexico botanist says a little green plant has an out-of-this world connection to New Mexico.

David Salman said he was on a seed hunting trip near Roswell when he noticed a faint glow coming from what appeared to be a meteor crater.

He said it turned out the light was coming from a small patch of carnivorous cacti.

Salman said he found a cactus that eats bugs, glows and probably came to earth on a meteor.

He says he scooped up some samples to see if someone could identify them, so far no one has been able to.
