CRYPTOPALOOZA! A WEEKEND OF MUSIC, MOVIES AND OF COURSE, CRYPTIDS!

Cryptopalooza is going to be a fantastic weekend of music, movies, cryptids and most important of all, FUN!

Hey folks, just wanted to let everyone know that we’ll be a part of a fantastic cryptozoology event called CRYPTOPALOOZA, held deep in the heart of the Piney woods of East Texas in the comfy-cozy town of Jefferson. They’ll be movie screenings from across the crypto-sphere, Q & A’s with directors, presentations, music performances by major cryptozoologists, and we, the Museum of the Weird, will even be participating with a traveling version of our collection of oddities for all who attend to be entertained and astounded! Meet the owner of the Museum himself, Steve Busti, with a possible surprise appearance by the most famous cryptid of them all! Who, or better yet, WHAT could it be? Well, you’ll just have to come on down and check it out for yourself on the 19th, 20th and 21st of October in Jefferson, Texas just off of Highway 59 near Marshall.

Cryptopalooza has been a long time in the making, but it’s finally a reality. Over the years friends Michael Esordi, founder of Believe It Tour, and Craig Woolheater, founder of Cryptomundo, have tossed around ideas about the conference experience and how to make it even better for people. Out of those discussions the idea began to form of starting something new and unique. Michael hit on the name Cryptopalooza and things started to pick up steam when the city of Jefferson, Texas contacted Craig about doing an event in their city.

With the growing number of Bigfoot and cryptozoolgy conferences spreading across the country, it’s obvious there’s an interest in these topics and a need for events to bring people together.

You won’t want to miss this event.

Yesterday, I discovered this video on YouTube that seems to have been overlooked from a few months ago. It has many features about it that look credible. Take a look.

Two 10 am Updates:

The running speed of this alleged Bigfoot compares favorably with the running alleged Bigfoot in the Memorial Day footage.

Interview items placed at YouTube. This video has flown under the radar of Sasquatch investigators, and I note the filmmaker & poster have not promoted it at all. The increase in viewer numbers is only due to its posting here at Cryptomundo at midnight on Tuesday October 9, 2012.

LONG LOST THUNDERBIRD PHOTO FINALLY FOUND?

For years, people have been searching for the fabled “lost Thunderbird photo” in vain… a mysterious photograph showing what appeared to be a gigantic bird or flying reptile nailed to the side of a barn.

The really strange thing is, hundreds of people can recall seeing the image either in a book, magazine, or a newspaper… but nobody has ever been able to produce the photograph. It’s almost as if it never really existed (If you’re not familiar with the subject of the Thunderbird photo, you can read up on the story here; it’s a fascinating mystery that continues to drive people bonkers)!

But perhaps the mystery is one step closer to being solved.  This morning Loren Coleman of Cryptomundo.com brought this photo to the world’s attention:

 

So what is the origin of this photograph of some kind of giant flying reptile (not a “Thunderbird”) with humans?

The appearances are here and here, but they give no info on the actual source.

Actually, this is just the latest entry in the running for the “lost Thunderbird photo.”  There have been other Thunderbird photos that have cropped up on the internet in the past, all of which have been proven as a hoax. Here are a few of them.

 

So the question is, where did this new photo originate?  Is it from some forgotten book? Another hoax?  Or… could this actually be the long lost Thunderbird photo so many people recall having seen?

A couple of days ago Jeffrey Gonzalez, founder of Sanger Paranormal, put out the following press release :

Today Loren Coleman of cryptomundo.com posted the alleged photo on the site (Coleman received the image from one of his readers, Rick Sheen, who had saved the photo from Sanger’s own website, where it appeared briefly before being removed from the site). Here it is:

 

 

Now apparently the main stream media has picked up on the story as well. Responding to Loren Coleman’s lead on the story, here’s what Lee Spiegel of AOL News reported:

California Bigfoot investigators were shocked over Memorial Day weekend when they found strange markings and hair on their pickup truck windows.

Now, they’re hoping DNA tests will prove once and for all the existence of the legendary man-beast.

“On the passenger side window, when I first saw it, I almost threw up,” said Jeffrey Gonzalez, an AT&T electronics technician and founder of the Sanger Paranormal Society.

Gonzalez and several others were in California’s Sierra National Forest searching for evidence to confirm the reality of the creature. When it started to snow at their campsite, they were forced to leave two of their vehicles behind.

“Two days later, we came back to pick up our vehicles and that’s when we found the impressions,” Gonzalez told AOL Weird News, recalling what he and his companions noticed on the passenger window.

“Apparently, the creature was looking in the window and left behind dirt and oil on it, leaving such an awesome picture, you can see the nose, the eye, the hair all over the face and the shoulders — it’s creepy, and it’s not a bear.”

Gonzalez and his friends — including a former science teacher and a correctional officer — also found a 12-inch footprint at the site. They concluded their hairy intruder wasn’t a bear because none of the four ice chests that were filled with food on the back of Gonzalez’s truck had been touched.

But it wasn’t just the passenger side window that presented a surprise — the driver’s side of the truck showed the imprint of a much larger creature, strongly suggesting there were two unexplained visitors to the campsite.

“An impression was left of a nose, eyes and lips, but they were extremely large,” Gonzalez said. “The lips measured about 6 inches long. You can see that the whole face was full of hair, so when it leaned up against the window, you can see the depth of the eye socket in the glass.

“I’ve shown people — non-believers — this photograph and this totally freaked them out.”

After Gonzalez returned home that day, he called a forensic expert to take DNA samples of the fur or hair that was left around the window impressions.
